The three stopped a step away from crossing the root covered, purple glowing, asuran portal. "This is to Lions Arch. When we get there, we can go through to Rata Sum." Said Lyeila still a bit frustrated about Zrains unexpected visit. "This will be my first time.." Svenial let out. Mjorn chuckled. "Let`s go." Lyeila said confidently. Lyeila stepped through. They could see her stepping through on their side, but she became invisible on the other side. Mjorn went in next, seeming like an expert. Then Svenial took a step through. He was amazed. Behind his was the grove, a totally green, luscious grass filled land. But with one step, the air grew damp, the ground felt like hard wood and he could feel the oceans breeze. The change in time was minor, but the change in the terrain was drastic. He could see the sand all around him, and the cities homes and buildings, made of what seemed like the same dark wood the platform he was on was made of. "Welcome to Lions Arch!" Greeted the male sylvari beside the portal. The three nodded at him. Svenial was amazed, by – Everything!
Svenial, Lyeila and Mjorn stomped down the ramp onto the sands of Lions Arch. They took a quick left and up the ramp to the portal to Rata Sum. They were greeted by a small female asura. "We hope you enjoy your stay." Mjorn literally looked like a skyscraper compared to her. Her eyes were huge and blue, literally taking up half her head, which the other half was covered by her dark brown hair, tied into two pig tails! Her ears were the largest he had imagined. Her cheeks covered by little freckles, where as her mouth was small, but as yappy as a drunken norn merchant. "Please don`t disobey the laws in Rata Sum, be sure to stay away from mechanic thermau…" The three stopped paying attention to her after that. Though Lyeila and Mjorn pretended to listen, Svenial took a last look back at Lions Arch. The diversity of the races was amazing. Charr, sylvari, humans, kodan, asura, norn, hylek and all of Tyrias other races gathered, as one. Finally the asura finished consulting them, and one by one, they stepped through, to the amazing, Rata Sum.
The three stared in awe. Technology was advanced in Tyria, but not this advanced. They had a view of the asuran pyramid, the gigantic cubes on its top were constantly re-arranging. The gardens were everywhere. Svenial thought to himself of what a good job they did implementing nature with technology. With the floating plants, to the touch screen maps, technology was this cities heart. In Rata Sum, it was even brighter day than before. The sun reflected the water swiftly flowing off the huge fountain. Lyeila walked up to a touch map, which she almost seemed clueless on how to use, but got it, and stared for a while. Svenial looked around, and was also amazed by the golems he saw being operated by the asura everywhere he looked. "This way to the gate." Said Lyeila, almost anxious to get out, but she walked slow to stare upon the other asuran wonders, along so did Mjorn and Svenial.
The three walked down the large stone ramp to the gate that separated Rata Sum from the Maguuma Wastes. "This, my friends, is where our adventure begins! Raven, bear, wolf, and snow leopard guide us!" Shouted Mjorn to the sky, turning little asura head his way. They walked through the large gate, even making the norn look puny, into the forest like terrain. The entire feeling changed. They went from an extremely large scale technologic city, to a damp, dark uninhabited jungle. The trees were just as large as Rata Sums walls itself. They drooped down, as if they were weeping, letting out the occasional vines here and there.
They started to walk, weapons in hand. They were lowered, but out just in case. The path was wet and muddy, from a recent rain. The sun began to go down, but was mostly covered because of all the leaves and branches. The woods seemed to get darker and darker the farther they went in. The density almost made them cluster phobic. About 10 minutes passed of walking, they were fairly far from Rata Sums entrance. They heard a twig snap to their left. Mjorn spun that way with his axe raised, but Lyeila and Svenial just turned their heads. They didn`t see anything, but it didn`t eliminate the possibility that something was there, watching them. Out came a screech from the tree tops.
"Up there!" Shouted Mjorn pointing his axe to a tree top. There was a group of huge ape-like beings jumping trees towards them. They couldn`t spot anymore, but moved back a bit. "Fight or flee?" Asked Svenial in an anxious voice, considering it was his first battle. "Fight!" Shouted Mjorn running towards the tree they were on. Lyeila took out her short bow and started shooting at the apes. She shot an arrow, it flew through the air, swifter than an eagle. It hit one in the chest, it crashed down to the ground. If the arrow didn`t kill it, the fall did. A couple of the apes rode down the vines, onto the wet soil below. Mjorn charged into battle. He lifted up his axe, and slammed it down on one of the apes` heads, splitting it in two. Svenial took out his staff and summoned an undead creature. It came out of the ground in a dark vortex, and charged into battle alongside Mjorn. It whipped one of the apes constantly, until it could take no more. Lyeila shot another arrow, this time hitting one in the eye socket. The arrow was exposed through both sides of the head. Mjorn dug his axe out of the apes head and swung it at the other ones. Svenial took his staff and shot an undead hand at an ape, going through its chest and grabbing its heart, and crushing it. The minion threw itself into another ape, knocking it to the ground. The last of the apes were on the ground, Lyeila took out her daggers. "SVENIAL!" She shouted. Svenial spun around faster than he anticipated he would. The ape was about to take a swing at his head. It let out a deep groan, and fell to the ground. Lyeila quickly grabbed her dagger out of its neck, and ran to help Mjorn. The rest of the apes fled, there weren`t many left, less than 5. Mjorn let out a horrid screech, and the apes ran faster.
Svenial looked at Lyeila and nodded while saying. "Thanks.." Then looked at the ground, and he felt he wouldn`t be here if it weren`t for her. "Those damned monkeys didn`t stand a chance." Said Mjorn triumphantly, among the blood stained terrain. Lyeila looked down at one of the fresh corpses. "They are huge.." She said. "Well, to us." She added putting her arm around Svenials shoulder. They noticed an opening up ahead to a small clearing in the forest. Then they heard a yelp from a small voice. "HELP!"
